About Mechanical R&D Lab
About the Research & Development Centre
The Mechanical Engineering Department of Chhattisgarh Institute of Technology (CGIT), Jagdalpur — formerly known as Jhada Sirha Government Engineering College, Jagdalpur — has an active and vibrant Research & Development Centre.
A dedicated team of research scholars and faculty members is actively engaged in research across core mechanical engineering domains. The department is equipped with well-established laboratories, including Thermal Engineering, Heat and Mass Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, IC Engines and Automobiles, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, CAD/CAM, Strength of Materials, and Manufacturing Technology.
The entire campus has robust infrastructure with a 100 Mbps internet connection and high-performance workstations to support advanced design, modeling, and simulation activities. Research scholars have access to leading e-journals through the ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) initiative by the Government of India, along with a wealth of technical e-books from reputed publishers. Industry-standard software such as ANSYS-CFD and SolidWorks is available for thermal, fluid flow, structural analysis, and product design applications.
The department also maintains modern hardware and equipment, including experimental setups for heat exchangers, wind tunnels, IC engine test rigs, universal testing machines, vibration analysis benches, and trainer kits for fluid machinery and thermal systems.
The Mechanical Engineering Department is committed to cutting-edge research in advanced manufacturing, renewable energy systems, thermal system optimization, composite materials, and automotive engineering, preparing students to become skilled and industry-ready mechanical engineers.
