BRIEF HISTORY:
National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. Today, NSS has more than 3.2 million student volunteers on its roll spread over 298 Universities and 42 (+2) Senior Secondary Councils and Directorate of Vocational Education all over the country. From its inception, more than 3.75 crores students from Universities, Colleges and Institutions of higher learning have benefited from the NSS activities, as student volunteers.

NSS GEC Jagdalpur:
The NSS branch of government engineering College, Jagdalpur carries out various regular activities and camps according to its curriculum, like:
Regular Activities:
These activities incorporate annual programs beginning from july to next june, as per the annual calendar provided by our NSS co-ordinator Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Bhilai.

NSS SPECIAL CAMP:
A 7 day special camp of NSS students was held in “NAKTI SEMRA” on 9th feb to 15th feb 2014. during this camp students go to co –operate villagers in various ways like for awareness in field of health ,education, sanitation & social evils . we even have blood donation camps and awareness among the villagers in different field like girls, women & children safety. The main purpose of the camp being personality development of students as well as social welfare of people devoid from basic amenities and awareness.
